Variety of Shift Patterns over 24 Hours
Ailesbury Private Nursing Home is located in Sandymount, Dublin and has been open since 1989, employing 40 staff members, working a 24-hour shift pattern. Ashbury Private Nursing Home is located in Blackrock and employs 50 people who also operate the same shift patterns. This nursing home has been open for the past 3 years.
Both nursing homes are owned and run by the Fagan family with Robert Fagan Junior responsible for the staff and management of all rosters and payroll of both homes. "Before the introduction of Advance Systems' time and attendance system, TMS, the monitoring of rosters was a very tedious and slow process. All times were recorded manually on time sheets and at the end of each week I had to manually calculate the hours worked for each employee from a main roster operating on four shifts," Robert Fagan explained.
Equivalent of One Full Salary Saved
The shifts work through from 8AM to 8AM the following day with some shifts only 6 hours in duration up to a 12 hour shift. There were also other members of staff working different shifts. "Since the introduction of TMS all of the rosters for both nursing homes have been set up and the amount of time saved has been amazing. The accuracy of the system has afforded us the saving of roughly one full salary", Robert said.
Improvement in Time-Keeping
Robert is extremely IT Literate and has found the system to be very user friendly, adding new reports as required. The HR module has allowed Robert more free time to do other tasks as the system can record and maintain employee records. "The system is accurate and fast and so flexible I can take my PC home and do the necessary work when it suits me", said Robert. The system is interlinked to payroll and once the hours are collated and the anomalies checked they are ready to export to payroll. "Moreover, staff have reacted well to the introduction of TMS and there was a significant improvement in time-keeping."
